In this article you will know all about CBSE 2024 Syllabus, Exam Pattern, Datesheet of class 10th and 12th for 2023-2024 CBSE board exam.
CBSE board exam pattern for 2023-24 is as follows:
- The exam for each subject will be of 100 marks, with 80 marks for the theory paper and 20 marks for internal assessments.
- The theory paper will be divided into four sections:
- Section A: Objective type questions (20 marks)
- Section B: Very short answer type questions (6 marks)
- Section C: Short answer type questions (7 marks)
- Section D: Long answer type questions (3 marks)
- The internal assessments will consist of practical exams, projects, and assignments.
- The minimum pass percentage for each subject is 33%.
The following are some of the key changes in the CBSE board exam pattern for 2023-24:
- Increased emphasis on application-based and problem-solving questions
- Reduced weightage of rote learning
- Introduction of more practical and project-based assessments
- Increased flexibility for schools to design their own internal assessment criteria
These changes are aimed at making the CBSE board exams more relevant to the needs of the 21st century learner. They also aim to assess students’ understanding of concepts and their ability to apply them in real-world situations.

CBSE board exam pattern Class 12
For English 80 marks of board paper and 20 marks for internal ASL by school.
For Physics, Chemistry, Biology, IP, PHE 70 marks of board theory paper and 30 marks for external practical in school by external examiner.
For Maths, BST, Eco, Accts, Pol sc. Etc 80 marks of board theory exam and 20 marks for external practical.
Skill subjects marks might be added in the final board result of a student fails in any one main subjects.
CBSE just planning for that to make final board result based on top 5 subjects marks including skill subjects.
CBSE board exam pattern class 10
For class 10 board exam 80 marks of theory and 20 marks of internal with practical given and will be done in the school.
For skill subjects 50 marks for theory board exam and 50 marks for practical exam internally done in the school.
1. MCQs 1 mark
2. One word/very short 1 mark
3. Short questions 2 marks
4. Long or case study base questions 4 Marks
